Hello lovely ones! Summer is passing by quickly and
tons of books have been released. Did you do any travelling this season? Well,
that’s our topic of this blog.
Travel…how far are loyal readers and new ones willing to go in the quest
of meeting an author? Does distance matter? In this economy, we all want or
like some sort of bargain, whether it’s a few cents off gas or an ice cream
coupon. Some readers carpool to another state to meet the goal. Others fly out
to different coasts to make it happen.
After attending a nicely organized
event, meeting familiar and new authors, can you say it was worth the money?
Did you have a good time? The experience is what matters in the end. Most
authors take pictures and allow the readers to freely discuss their work.
Some of the most recent events that have taken place were in Sacramento, California at the West Coast Reader's Retreat and in Harlem, New York at the Harlem Book Fair.
If you're in the Richmond, Virginia area, an event coming up is the Emerald Authors Showcase on Saturday, August 3, 2013. This event is being hosted by Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Gamma Delta Chapter.
Featured authors include: Stacy Hawkins Adams, Iris Bolling, Bridget Midway, Latisha Patterson, Kemba Smith, Patricia Mills, and Loretta R. Walls.
The event is free admission to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Life Center 3601 Dill Road, Richmond, VA 23222
We hope to see you there, ready to enjoy the experience!
Rule your day!
Loretta R. Walls, Author of "The Majestic Dynasty"

I have traveled by car, plane, and train to literary events to meet my favorite authors. Most of the traveling was for RSJ (Romance Slam Jam), in various cities and I've never been disappointed.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful to know, Lareeta and perhaps you will mark Richmond on your calendar for next year. Tons of authors are in the region looking to connect with readers like you.
